RaydiumRAY price and how to buy

Solana

One of Solana's largest automated market makers.

Swap SOL → RAY

RAY / USD

What RAY is

Raydium is an automated market maker where liquidity providers deposit token pairs into pools and earn a share of trading fees. A large share of Solana memecoin liquidity sits in Raydium pools, and aggregators route through it constantly.

RAY is its governance token and captures a portion of protocol fees through buybacks.

You need SOL or USDC first

RAY is bought by swapping something you already hold for it, so an empty wallet cannot buy any. If yours is empty, start here.

How to get your first SOL

Buying RAY, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect a Solana wallet

Open the swap panel and connect Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. Privacc only reads your public address. It cannot move your funds.

  2. 2

    Select RAY

The panel is already set to buy RAY using the verified mint address, so there is nothing to paste and no risk of picking an impostor token.

  3. 3

Enter an amount and review the quote

Type how much SOL you want to spend. The quote shows the RAY you will receive, the price impact and the fee before you commit.

  4. 4

    Sign in your wallet

Approve the transaction. Solana settles in about a second and the Raydium arrives in the wallet you signed from.

What RAY is used for

  • RAY is a position on Solana trading volume, because Raydium is where a large share of memecoin liquidity sits and aggregators route through it constantly.

  • A portion of protocol fees is used to buy RAY, which is a closer link between activity and token than most governance tokens have. It is still a policy rather than a dividend.

  • It carries governance rights over the protocol, which is a real use and rarely the reason anybody buys it.

How RAY trades

RAY is one of the more liquid protocol tokens on Solana, which follows from Raydium's position in the market. Ordinary swaps route cheaply and large ones behave predictably. What moves it is trading volume across Solana generally, so the price tends to be weakest in quiet markets, which is also when its fee income is weakest.

Common mistakes

  1. Expecting a buyback to hold the price up misreads where the money comes from. Buybacks are funded by trading fees, so they shrink in quiet markets — the same conditions in which the price is already falling.

  2. AMM revenue is tightly coupled to volume, and volume in crypto does not decline gently. A quiet quarter is a much larger change in income than an equivalent quarter would be for most businesses.

  3. Raydium competes directly with newer Solana exchanges, and liquidity is the thing that moves fastest when a competitor offers better terms to the people providing it.

  4. A wallet holding only RAY cannot sell it, because the transaction fee is paid in SOL.

Checking RAY…

Risks to understand

AMM revenue is tightly coupled to trading volume, which is cyclical and collapses in quiet markets. Raydium also competes directly with newer Solana AMMs.

RAY — Contract address

Symbols on Solana are not unique: anyone can mint a token using the RAY ticker. Verify the mint address, never the name:

The swap panel on this page is already pointed at this mint.

RAY questions

Does RAY pay me a share of trading fees?

Not directly. A portion of protocol fees is used to buy RAY on the market, which supports the price rather than paying holders. It is a policy the protocol operates, not an entitlement, and it scales down with volume.

What is the difference between RAY and JUP?

Raydium is an exchange where trades actually happen; Jupiter is the aggregator that decides which exchanges to route through. RAY has a fee-funded buyback, JUP does not. Both are governance tokens without a claim on revenue.

Is holding RAY the same as providing liquidity?

No, and the distinction matters. Providing liquidity means depositing a token pair and earning fees while carrying impermanent loss. Holding RAY is owning the protocol's token, with none of that exposure and none of those fees.

Where can I buy RAY?

On this page. Connect a Solana wallet, enter an amount, and approve the swap. The RAY goes straight to your wallet without passing through Privacc.

Do I need an account to buy RAY?

No. Privacc has no accounts and no sign-up because it never takes custody of your funds. You connect a wallet, sign a transaction, and the tokens go straight to you.

What does it cost to buy RAY?

The Solana network fee, the price impact of the route, and the Privacc fee included in the quote you see before signing.
