JupiterJUP price and how to buy

Solana

Governance token of the DEX aggregator that routes most Solana swap volume.

What JUP is

Jupiter is the aggregator that finds the best route for a swap across Solana's decentralised exchanges, splitting orders between pools when that gets a better price. It routes a large share of all Solana spot volume, including the swaps on this site.

JUP is its governance token, distributed largely through community airdrops. Holders can stake it to vote on proposals covering the protocol's direction and treasury.

You need SOL or USDC first

JUP is bought by swapping something you already hold for it, so an empty wallet cannot buy any. If yours is empty, start here.

How to get your first SOL

Buying JUP, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect a Solana wallet

Open the swap panel and connect Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. Privacc only reads your public address. It cannot move your funds.

  2. 2

    Select JUP

The panel is already set to buy JUP using the verified mint address, so there is nothing to paste and no risk of picking an impostor token.

  3. 3

Enter an amount and review the quote

Type how much SOL you want to spend. The quote shows the JUP you will receive, the price impact and the fee before you commit.

  4. 4

    Sign in your wallet

Approve the transaction. Solana settles in about a second and the Jupiter arrives in the wallet you signed from.

What JUP is used for

  • JUP is the governance token of the aggregator that routes a large share of all Solana spot volume, including the swaps on this site.

  • Staking it gives a vote on proposals covering the protocol's direction and its treasury. That is a real use, and it is the only one the token has.

  • It is held as a position on Solana trading activity generally, since Jupiter sits underneath so much of it. That is an argument about relevance rather than about cash flows, because none reach the token.

How JUP trades

JUP is among the more liquid non-stablecoin tokens on Solana, which follows from its role: it is listed everywhere and routed through constantly. Ordinary swaps are cheap and even large ones behave predictably. The thing to watch is not depth but the unlock schedule, since airdrop and vesting unlocks have historically added supply at known dates.

Common mistakes

  1. A governance token is not equity, and JUP is the clearest example on this site of why that distinction costs people money. Jupiter can route record volume while JUP falls, because the protocol's revenue does not reach the token.

  2. Unlocks have historically added sell pressure at scheduled dates. Those dates are public, which means the market has usually thought about them before a buyer does.

  3. Being the token of the thing everyone uses is not the same as capturing the value of everyone using it, and the gap between those two statements is where the disappointment lives.

  4. A wallet holding only JUP cannot sell it. Fees are paid in SOL, always.

Risks to understand

A governance token is not equity and carries no claim on protocol revenue. Its price can fall even while the protocol grows. Airdrop unlocks have historically added sell pressure.

Nothing on this page is financial advice. Read how to spot a rug pull before buying anything smaller than this.

JUP — Contract address

Symbols on Solana are not unique: anyone can mint a token using the JUP ticker. Verify the mint address, never the name:

The swap panel on this page is already pointed at this mint.

JUP questions

Does JUP earn a share of Jupiter's fees?

No. It is a governance token. Holders vote on proposals; they do not receive protocol revenue. The price can fall while the protocol grows, and that has happened.

What does staking JUP do?

It gives voting power over governance proposals, including decisions about the treasury. It is participation rather than yield, and it is worth being clear about which of those you are after.

Is JUP connected to the swap on this page?

The routing is. Swaps here go through Jupiter's aggregator, which is what finds the price across Solana's exchanges. Holding JUP is unrelated to that and confers no advantage when swapping.

Where can I buy JUP?

On this page. Connect a Solana wallet, enter an amount, and approve the swap. The JUP goes straight to your wallet without passing through Privacc.

Do I need an account to buy JUP?

No. Privacc has no accounts and no sign-up because it never takes custody of your funds. You connect a wallet, sign a transaction, and the tokens go straight to you.

What does it cost to buy JUP?

The Solana network fee, the price impact of the route, and the Privacc fee included in the quote you see before signing.
