About Polygon
Polygon PoS is a proof-of-stake network that runs alongside Ethereum and periodically checkpoints its state there. It has operated since 2020, originally under the name Matic Network, and has some of the lowest fees of any EVM chain: a swap typically costs a fraction of a cent.
Gas is paid in POL, which replaced MATIC as the network's token in September 2024. Guides that tell you to buy MATIC for Polygon gas are out of date. Tokens that arrived from Ethereum through the official bridge often carry "(PoS)" in their names on Polygon, which is how bridged copies are told apart from tokens issued on Polygon directly.
Liquidity on Polygon is much thinner than on the other four networks here, so a large swap shows more price impact, and fewer tokens clear the bar for a page of their own. MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet and most EVM wallets support it.

Risks to understand
Every token on Polygon can be copied by anyone, name and symbol included. The pages here each carry the verified contract, and the swap panel on each is set to it.
