HyperliquidHYPE price and how to buy
SolanaBridged HYPE, the token of the Hyperliquid perpetuals exchange, on Solana.
What HYPE is
Hyperliquid is a derivatives exchange running on its own purpose-built chain, known for an on-chain order book rather than the pool-based model most decentralised exchanges use. HYPE is its native token, used for fees, staking and governance.
What trades here is a bridged representation on Solana. It tracks the native price closely — within roughly 0.1% when we checked — and lets you hold exposure without leaving Solana. The market cap shown on Solana data sites reflects only the bridged supply, not Hyperliquid's actual size.
You need SOL or USDC first
HYPE is bought by swapping something you already hold for it, so an empty wallet cannot buy any. If yours is empty, start here.
How to get your first SOLWhat HYPE is used for
Bridged HYPE gives exposure to the Hyperliquid exchange's token without moving to its chain or opening an account there. That convenience is the reason it exists on Solana.
It is held as a bet on the exchange itself: HYPE is used for fees, staking and governance on Hyperliquid, so its value tracks how much that venue is used. None of those uses are available from the Solana representation.
It swaps instantly against Solana liquidity, which suits someone already holding SOL or USDC and unwilling to bridge in order to take a position.
How HYPE trades
The Solana market in bridged HYPE is far smaller than the native one. Its market capitalisation on Solana data sites reflects only the bridged supply, not the size of the project, and the same is true of its depth: a trade that would be unremarkable on Hyperliquid itself can move this price noticeably. Read the price impact rather than the headline number.
Common mistakes
Reading the Solana market cap as the size of Hyperliquid is the standard error. It measures how much HYPE has been bridged here and nothing else, and it will be a small fraction of the real figure.
The bridged token cannot be staked, cannot pay fees on Hyperliquid and cannot vote. It carries the price and none of the utility, which is a distinction that matters if utility is the reason you wanted it.
A bridge failure can break the link to the native price permanently, in a way that has nothing to do with whether Hyperliquid is doing well.
The mint authority is active, which is how a bridge works — it mints on deposit — and it does mean the supply of this representation is not fixed by code.
