What ZEC is

Zcash is a long-running privacy cryptocurrency that uses zero-knowledge proofs to let transactions be verified without revealing sender, receiver or amount. It has its own blockchain, launched in 2016.

What trades here is a bridged representation of ZEC on Solana, not native Zcash. It tracks the price and can be swapped instantly against Solana liquidity, but it does not carry Zcash's shielded-transaction privacy — that only exists on Zcash's own chain.

You need SOL or USDC first

ZEC is bought by swapping something you already hold for it, so an empty wallet cannot buy any. If yours is empty, start here.

How to get your first SOL

Buying ZEC, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect a Solana wallet

Open the swap panel and connect Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. Privacc only reads your public address. It cannot move your funds.

  2. 2

    Select ZEC

The panel is already set to buy ZEC using the verified mint address, so there is nothing to paste and no risk of picking an impostor token.

  3. 3

Enter an amount and review the quote

Type how much SOL you want to spend. The quote shows the ZEC you will receive, the price impact and the fee before you commit.

  4. 4

    Sign in your wallet

Approve the transaction. Solana settles in about a second and the Zcash arrives in the wallet you signed from.

What ZEC is used for

  • The bridged ZEC on Solana exists to give price exposure to Zcash without leaving the network or using a Zcash wallet. That is the whole of what it offers.

  • It is held by people who want exposure to the privacy-coin thesis as an investment rather than for its privacy. The distinction matters, because the bridged token has none of Zcash's shielded-transaction properties.

  • It can be swapped against Solana liquidity instantly, which is the practical advantage over holding native ZEC and its disadvantage in every other respect.

How ZEC trades

Bridged ZEC trades in modest size on Solana compared with the native asset's own markets. Small swaps route cleanly; larger ones show real price impact and can drift from the price ZEC is quoted at elsewhere, because the Solana representation has its own much shallower order book. Check the quote against the native price before assuming they are the same number.

Common mistakes

  1. The most serious misunderstanding is expecting privacy from this token. Zcash's shielded transactions exist only on the Zcash chain; a bridged representation on Solana is an ordinary transparent SPL token, and every transfer is public.

  2. A bridged asset can come apart from the thing it tracks. If the bridge is compromised or its backing fails, the token can trade far below real ZEC no matter what ZEC does, and that risk is invisible in a price chart.

  3. The token's safety check flags an active mint authority, which for a bridge is normal — it mints when someone deposits — and also means supply is not fixed by code. Both of those statements are true at once, and people tend to hear only one of them.

  4. ZEC sent to a Zcash address does not arrive. This is a Solana token and the two chains share nothing, least of all address formats.

Risks to understand

This is a bridged asset, so you take on bridge risk in addition to price risk: if the bridge is compromised or its backing fails, the token can depeg from real ZEC. The safety check above flags that the mint authority is still active — for a bridged token that is expected, because the bridge mints new tokens when someone deposits real ZEC, but it does mean the supply is not fixed and you are trusting the bridge operator. If you want actual Zcash privacy, you need native ZEC on the Zcash network, not this.

Nothing on this page is financial advice. Read how to spot a rug pull before buying anything smaller than this. This token is a special case: how wrapped and bridged tokens work explains what you are actually holding.

ZEC — Contract address

Symbols on Solana are not unique: anyone can mint a token using the ZEC ticker. Verify the mint address, never the name:

The swap panel on this page is already pointed at this mint.

ZEC questions

Does this give me Zcash's privacy?

No, and this is the thing most worth understanding before buying it. Shielded transactions are a feature of the Zcash blockchain. What trades here is a transparent token on Solana that tracks the ZEC price, and every transfer of it is as public as any other Solana transaction.

Is this the same as buying ZEC on an exchange?

In price exposure, roughly. In what you hold, no. An exchange sells you native ZEC that can be withdrawn to a Zcash wallet. This is a bridged claim that lives on Solana and depends on the bridge continuing to work.

Why is the price slightly different from ZEC elsewhere?

Because this is a separate, much smaller market. Arbitrage keeps the two broadly in line, but the Solana book is shallow enough that a large trade moves it, and gaps open when the bridge is under strain.

Where can I buy ZEC?

On this page. Connect a Solana wallet, enter an amount, and approve the swap. The ZEC goes straight to your wallet without passing through Privacc.

Do I need an account to buy ZEC?

No. Privacc has no accounts and no sign-up because it never takes custody of your funds. You connect a wallet, sign a transaction, and the tokens go straight to you.

What does it cost to buy ZEC?

The Solana network fee, the price impact of the route, and the Privacc fee included in the quote you see before signing.
