Trending measures attention, not quality, and young pools are where rug pulls happen. How to spot a rug pull

What does trending mean on Ethereum?

This list comes from GeckoTerminal's trending pools for Ethereum. GeckoTerminal ranks pools on its own mix of signals, including recent trading and how much attention a pool is getting; the exact formula is not published. The result shows what people are trading and watching now, not what is largest.

Ethereum mainnet is the original smart-contract network and still holds the deepest on-chain liquidity for many large tokens. Its network fees are higher than on the other five networks we support, so a very small swap can cost more in gas than it is worth.

How this list is ranked and filtered

We keep GeckoTerminal's order and only remove rows. Raw pool rankings on EVM networks are dominated by wash trading: bots cycling the same money through a thin pool to manufacture volume. So a pool must hold at least $1 million of liquidity and trade no more than 25 times that in 24 hours. Stablecoin pairs are dropped, and a token that appears in several pools is shown once, at its highest-ranked pool. Price and changes are that pool's own, so they can differ slightly from an exchange's quote.

How to use it safely

Use the list as a starting point for research, not a signal. Trending means people are trading a token today; it says nothing about whether the price will hold tomorrow, and some of that trading is often the token's own creators.

Before you swap anything from this list, check the contract address against the project's own site, compare the liquidity column with the size of your trade (a trade worth more than a few per cent of it will move the price against you), and never swap more than you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

How is this Ethereum trending list ranked?

By GeckoTerminal's 24-hour trending ranking, in GeckoTerminal's order. We do not re-rank it; we remove pools with less than $1 million of liquidity or 24-hour volume above 25 times their liquidity, and we remove stablecoins.

Why are there fewer rows than on other sites?

Because most pools in a raw ranking fail the filters. A pool with $50,000 of liquidity reporting $5 million of daily volume has turned over a hundred times in a day, which real traders do not do. We would rather show a few real markets than a long list of manufactured ones.

How often does this list update?

The table in the page's HTML is a snapshot taken when the site was last built, and it is labelled with that time. When you open the page your browser asks GeckoTerminal for the current list once and the table switches to live.

Is a trending token a good buy?

No. This list describes what is being traded, not what will go up. We do not make price predictions or recommend tokens, and a place on this page is not an endorsement. Check the contract address, compare the liquidity with the size of your trade, and never swap more than you can afford to lose.
