What ONDO is

ONDO is the governance token of Ondo Finance, a company that issues tokenised versions of traditional assets — most prominently funds that hold short-term US Treasuries — and, more recently, tokenised stocks. It is one of the better-known names in real-world asset tokenisation, the effort to put conventional financial assets on blockchains.

ONDO itself is not a claim on any of those assets. It is used to govern the Ondo DAO, and its price moves with interest in tokenised assets, with Ondo's growth and with the wider market, not with Treasury yields.

A large part of its supply was allocated to the team, early investors and ecosystem funds and is released on a schedule; when this page was written, roughly half of the total supply was in circulation.

No. ONDO is a governance token. The yield Ondo is known for comes from its tokenised Treasury products, which are different tokens with their own eligibility rules.

What is real-world asset tokenisation?

Issuing a token that represents a conventional asset, such as a government bond fund or a share, so it can be held and moved on a blockchain. The token is only as good as the legal structure and custodian behind it.

Who controls ONDO's supply?

It is fixed at issue and released on a published schedule to the groups it was allocated to. That schedule, rather than any new minting, is what adds to the circulating supply.
