What LINK is

LINK is the token of Chainlink, the oracle network that brings outside data — asset prices above all — into smart contracts on many blockchains. Lending markets and derivatives protocols rely on those feeds to know what collateral is worth, which makes Chainlink one of the most widely used pieces of infrastructure in DeFi.

LINK pays the node operators who provide that data and is staked as a guarantee of their service. Its price tends to move with the broader market and with how much of DeFi depends on Chainlink's feeds.

The LINK on BNB Chain is a Binance-pegged version, backed by LINK held in reserve, rather than the original contract on Ethereum. It tracks the same price, in much smaller pools.

Buying LINK, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect an EVM wallet

Open the swap panel and connect MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or any browser wallet that supports BNB Chain. On a phone, the same wallets open through their own apps. Privacc only reads your public address — it cannot move your funds.

  2. 2

Hold some BNB on BNB Chain for gas

Every BNB Chain transaction is paid for in BNB, whatever token you are swapping, so a wallet with no BNB cannot buy LINK. The panel opens on BNB Chain; if your wallet is set to another network it will ask to switch.

  3. 3

    Check the token is LINK

The panel is already set to LINK at the contract address on this page, so there is nothing to search for. If you pick it by hand, compare the address rather than the name — copies with the same symbol exist.

  4. 4

    Approve, then swap

If you pay with a token rather than BNB, your wallet first asks you to approve the router to spend it. That is a separate transaction with its own gas fee, needed once per token. Then check the quote — the LINK you receive, the price impact and the fees — and sign the swap.

  5. 5

    Find it in your wallet

The Chainlink arrives in the wallet you signed from once the transaction confirms. If your wallet does not list it, add it as a custom token using the contract address on this page.

LINK contract address on BNB Chain

Token names and symbols on BNB Chain are not unique — anyone can deploy a contract called LINK. The address is the only thing that identifies the real one. Check it, never the name:

Common mistakes

  1. LINK on BNB Chain and LINK on Ethereum are different contracts on different networks. Sending one to an address expecting the other, such as an exchange deposit set to Ethereum, can lose it.

  2. Chainlink's own staking runs on Ethereum with the Ethereum token, so LINK bought on BNB Chain would have to be moved there before it could be staked.

  3. The BNB Chain pools for LINK are small next to its main markets, so a large swap here shows noticeably more price impact.

LINK questions

What does Chainlink do?

It runs networks of independent nodes that fetch data such as asset prices and deliver it to smart contracts, which cannot read the outside world on their own. It also offers a protocol for moving messages and tokens between blockchains.

Is LINK on BNB Chain the same as LINK on Ethereum?

Same price, different contract. This one is a Binance-pegged token on BNB Chain; the original lives on Ethereum. Moving between them needs a bridge or an exchange.

What gives LINK value?

It is how Chainlink's node operators are paid and what they stake. Its price reflects the market's view of how much demand there will be for Chainlink's services, and it moves with the crypto market as a whole.

Where can I buy LINK on BNB Chain?

On this page. Connect an EVM wallet with some BNB for gas, enter an amount and sign. The LINK goes straight to your wallet without passing through Privacc.

Do I need an account to buy LINK?

No. Privacc has no accounts and no sign-up because it never takes custody of your funds. You connect a wallet, sign a transaction, and the tokens go straight to you.

What does it cost to buy LINK on BNB Chain?

The BNB Chain network fee, paid in BNB; a one-off approval fee the first time you sell a given token; the price impact of the route; and any service fee. All of it is in the quote you see before you sign.

Market cap and supply are left out: the LINK contract on BNB Chain holds only the part of the supply that has been brought to this network, so its figures would describe that part rather than LINK as a whole.
