What MORPHO is

MORPHO is the governance token of Morpho, a lending protocol where anyone can create an isolated market for one collateral asset and one loan asset, with its own risk settings. Curators then build vaults that spread deposits across those markets.

Morpho is one of the largest lending protocols on Base. Coinbase uses it to offer loans backed by bitcoin, which run on Base and are a large part of its activity there.

The MORPHO on this page is a bridged copy of the Ethereum original; it tracks the same price. The token's value moves with the amount lent through Morpho and with DeFi generally.

Buying MORPHO, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect an EVM wallet

Open the swap panel and connect MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or any browser wallet that supports Base. On a phone, the same wallets open through their own apps. Privacc only reads your public address — it cannot move your funds.

  2. 2

Hold some ETH on Base for gas

Every Base transaction is paid for in ETH, whatever token you are swapping, so a wallet with no ETH cannot buy MORPHO. The panel opens on Base; if your wallet is set to another network it will ask to switch.

  3. 3

    Check the token is MORPHO

The panel is already set to MORPHO at the contract address on this page, so there is nothing to search for. If you pick it by hand, compare the address rather than the name — copies with the same symbol exist.

  4. 4

    Approve, then swap

If you pay with a token rather than ETH, your wallet first asks you to approve the router to spend it. That is a separate transaction with its own gas fee, needed once per token. Then check the quote — the MORPHO you receive, the price impact and the fees — and sign the swap.

  5. 5

    Find it in your wallet

The Morpho (bridged to Base) arrives in the wallet you signed from once the transaction confirms. If your wallet does not list it, add it as a custom token using the contract address on this page.

MORPHO contract address on Base

Token names and symbols on Base are not unique — anyone can deploy a contract called MORPHO. The address is the only thing that identifies the real one. Check it, never the name:

Common mistakes

  1. MORPHO on Base and MORPHO on Ethereum are separate contracts, and sending one to an address that expects the other can lose it.

  2. Holding MORPHO is not lending on Morpho. Vault deposits earn interest; the governance token does not.

  3. Isolated markets make each market's risk its own, which also means a badly set up market or vault can lose depositors' money without the rest of the protocol stepping in.

MORPHO questions

What is Morpho?

A lending protocol built from small, isolated markets, each with one collateral and one loan asset. Vaults run by curators allocate deposits across them.

Is this the same MORPHO as on Ethereum?

Same price, different contract. It is a bridged copy on Base.

Does holding MORPHO earn interest?

No. Interest is paid to depositors in Morpho's markets and vaults. MORPHO is used for governance.

Where can I buy MORPHO on Base?

On this page. Connect an EVM wallet with some ETH for gas, enter an amount and sign. The MORPHO goes straight to your wallet without passing through Privacc.

Do I need an account to buy MORPHO?

No. Privacc has no accounts and no sign-up because it never takes custody of your funds. You connect a wallet, sign a transaction, and the tokens go straight to you.

What does it cost to buy MORPHO on Base?

The Base network fee, paid in ETH; a one-off approval fee the first time you sell a given token; the price impact of the route; and any service fee. All of it is in the quote you see before you sign.

Market cap and supply are left out: the MORPHO contract on Base holds only the part of the supply that has been brought to this network, so its figures would describe that part rather than MORPHO as a whole.
