What LINK is

LINK is the token of Chainlink, the oracle network that brings outside data — asset prices above all — into smart contracts on many blockchains, Arbitrum among them. Lending and derivatives protocols rely on those feeds to value collateral.

The LINK on this page is bridged from the Ethereum original. It tracks the same price and costs far less to trade on Arbitrum, but Chainlink's own staking uses LINK on Ethereum.

Its price moves with the broader market and with how much of the industry depends on Chainlink.

Buying LINK, step by step

  1. 1

    Connect an EVM wallet

Open the swap panel and connect MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or any browser wallet that supports Arbitrum. On a phone, the same wallets open through their own apps. Privacc only reads your public address — it cannot move your funds.

  2. 2

Hold some ETH on Arbitrum for gas

Every Arbitrum transaction is paid for in ETH, whatever token you are swapping, so a wallet with no ETH cannot buy LINK. The panel opens on Arbitrum; if your wallet is set to another network it will ask to switch.

  3. 3

    Check the token is LINK

The panel is already set to LINK at the contract address on this page, so there is nothing to search for. If you pick it by hand, compare the address rather than the name — copies with the same symbol exist.

  4. 4

    Approve, then swap

If you pay with a token rather than ETH, your wallet first asks you to approve the router to spend it. That is a separate transaction with its own gas fee, needed once per token. Then check the quote — the LINK you receive, the price impact and the fees — and sign the swap.

  5. 5

    Find it in your wallet

The Chainlink (Arbitrum) arrives in the wallet you signed from once the transaction confirms. If your wallet does not list it, add it as a custom token using the contract address on this page.

LINK contract address on Arbitrum

Token names and symbols on Arbitrum are not unique — anyone can deploy a contract called LINK. The address is the only thing that identifies the real one. Check it, never the name:

Common mistakes

  1. LINK on Arbitrum and LINK on Ethereum are separate contracts. Sending one to an address that expects the other, such as an exchange deposit set to Ethereum, can lose it.

  2. Chainlink staking runs on Ethereum, so LINK bought on Arbitrum would need bridging back before it could be staked.

  3. The Arbitrum pools are small next to LINK's main markets, so a large order here shows more price impact.

LINK questions

Is LINK on Arbitrum the same as LINK on Ethereum?

Same price, different contract: a bridged copy on Arbitrum of the Ethereum original.

What does Chainlink do?

It delivers outside data, such as asset prices, to smart contracts, and runs a protocol for moving messages and tokens between blockchains.

Why buy LINK on Arbitrum?

Lower gas. A swap here costs a small fraction of one on Ethereum. The trade-off is the bridge behind the Arbitrum copy, and thinner pools.

Where can I buy LINK on Arbitrum?

On this page. Connect an EVM wallet with some ETH for gas, enter an amount and sign. The LINK goes straight to your wallet without passing through Privacc.

Do I need an account to buy LINK?

No. Privacc has no accounts and no sign-up because it never takes custody of your funds. You connect a wallet, sign a transaction, and the tokens go straight to you.

What does it cost to buy LINK on Arbitrum?

The Arbitrum network fee, paid in ETH; a one-off approval fee the first time you sell a given token; the price impact of the route; and any service fee. All of it is in the quote you see before you sign.

Market cap and supply are left out: the LINK contract on Arbitrum holds only the part of the supply that has been brought to this network, so its figures would describe that part rather than LINK as a whole.
