What ARB is

ARB is the governance token of the Arbitrum DAO, which oversees the Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova networks and a large treasury. It launched in March 2023 with an airdrop to people who had used the network.

Holders vote on upgrades to the network, on how the treasury is spent and on incentive programmes for the projects built there. ARB does not pay for gas on Arbitrum; that is ETH.

A large part of the supply was allocated to the team and early investors and has been unlocking monthly since March 2024, which adds steady selling pressure. The price moves with activity on Arbitrum, with those unlocks and with the market for layer 2 tokens.

Connect an EVM wallet

Common mistakes

ARB cannot pay Arbitrum gas. Holding it without any ETH on Arbitrum leaves the wallet unable to move it.
Scheduled unlocks add supply every month, which has weighed on the price through most of its history.
